The BKCFest Quest – Mini Comic Maker: www.bkcfest.org

The Boston Kids Comics Fest is excited to announce the launch of two new web apps. The apps strive to immerse children in the world of comics during the 2019 BKCFest!

The BKCFest Quest

The BKCFest Quest web app challenges children to research specific questions about comics. It features questions from both vintage and modern comics, while highlighting BKCFest’s headliners, panelists and exhibitors, such as Joel Christian Gill, Raul the Third, Erica Henderson, Jonathan Todd and The Million Year Picnic. The Quest is reminiscent of a scavenger hunt in that clues to questions can be found in various spots around the 2019 BKCFest’s location at Pine Manor College. For the children who successfully conquer the Quest, there will be a prize waiting for them -(while supplies last).

The Mini Comic Maker

The second Quest challenge encourages creativity and practice of the art of comic making, as it takes children step-by-step through making a mini one page comic. The mini comic maker is inspired by  the vintage comic series, “Little Nemo in Slumberland” by Winsor McCay. The main character in McCay’s comic, Nemo, is the teacher in the mini comic maker who guides children in making a their own mini comic. Nemo prompts children to reflect on their dreams in such a way that they can transform them into original mini comics. Children will have the opportunity to share their finished mini comics on the Boston Kids Comics Fest Website or the fest’s social media outlets if they so choose!
